Nineteen (19) years old Essex lass, Kiara Giel Gregorio won Miss Philippines Earth – Air 2016 crown and title from the Miss Philippine Earth beauty pageant held last June in the "University of the Philippines" University of the Philippines Theatre in "Quezon City" Quezon City, "Philippines" Philippines. She bested 46 other beauties from different municipalities and cities in and outside the country. However, a German Filipina from Puerto Princesa City – "Imelda Schweighart" Imelda Schweighart – won the coveted crown and title Miss Philippines Earth 2016 and will represent the Philippines at the biggest international beauty competition - the MISS EARTH Pageant in 2017. Other major title holders were: Miss Philippines Water 2016 - Loren Mar Artajos from Laoag City, Miss Philippines Fire 2016 - Shannon Rebecca Bridgman from "Rosales, Pangasinan" Rosales, Pangasinan, and Miss Philippines Eco Tourism 2016 - Melanie Mader from "Vienna, Austria" Vienna, Austria.
Nonetheless, Kiara brought pride to the Phil-Anglo community in bagging the 1st major title in the competition and also winning Darling of the Press award, Best in Long Gown and Best in Swim Wear titles. Kiara was groomed and sponsored by The Royaltys, a newly established agency intended as ‘beauty queen and king maker’ in the UK. Kiara was born in Cabanatuan City, Philippines and immigrated to UK at the age of ten (10) with her mom Vangie. She has completed A-Levels in Law, English Literature, and Business Studies at Greenswood Academy and will soon continue higher education at the University of Westminster for a bachelor degree in Law.
The pageant’s major advocacy is “to fight climate change through the 5R’s; Re-think, Reduce, Re-use, Recycle and Respect” hence one qualifying requirement is for all the candidates to participate in their community eco activities long before the competition ceremonies. Kiara’s personal environmental campaign is “One with Earth” wherein she aim to “teach skills, influence minds and build the future; and help put a stop to global environmental degradation.”
Another pageant winner that represented London at a male pageant in the Philippines is 23 years old Paul Renzo Velo from Harlesden. He competed at the newly established Gentleman of the Philippines pageantry held last July at the Trinity University of Asia Theatre in Quezon City. Out of the 30 candidates, the inaugural search proclaimed seven titleholders who will also be competing at international male pageants as follows: Kian Sumague of San Pablo City won Mr. Tourism World (will race for Mister Tourism World in Bali, Indonesia on Nov. 26), Jason Martin of Queensland, Australia won Mr. Worldwide (will vie for 2016 Mister Worldwide in Orlando, Florida, USA in Dec.), Christian Lumasag of Cebu City won Best Global Model of the Year (competing in 2016 Best Global Model of the Year in Lisbon, Portugal on Nov. 28), overall winner Andrea Biondo of Vittoria, Italy was crowned Mister Universal Ambassador (and competed for 2016 Mister Universal Ambassador in Bali, Indonesia on Sept. 30 and placed 4th runner-up), Job Abogado of Camarines Sur won Mr. Model International (will race for Mister Tourism World in Bali, Indonesia on Nov. 26), Paul Renzo Velo of London won Mr. Tourism International (contending for 2016 Mister Tourism International in Panama City on Oct. 29), and Mark Joshua Marquez of Rome, Italy won Mr. Teen International (will vie for 2017 Mister Teen International in Bali, Indonesia in July).
Paul Renzo’s full title is Gentleman of the Philippines Mister Tourism International 2016. He also won the Best Talent award. He was groomed and sponsored for the Gentleman of the Philippines contest by Ms Maria Preciousa Ana, founder of Gentlemen Charity Incorporation (GCI).
Paul was born in Pampanga but immigrated to England in his teens with his mother Grace. He is currently an Aerospace Engineering undergrad at the University of West England. He loves dancing, e-gaming and gym fitness, plays guitar and basketball, won gold and bronze medal in Taekwando. Aside from the recent title he won, Paul Renzo is also crowned Mr Philippines UK 2010 and Mr Bikini Open UK 2011. He said “joining pageantries has gained [me] friends and brotherhood rather than competitors.” He plans to meet more young people and give talks on how to make dreams come true by listening to positive thoughts, concentrate to task and diligent practise and not to forget to give thanks to God.
Kiara and Paul were recently given a celebration dinner by The Royaltys team – Romulo Tan Palma (director), Mark Robles (associate director), Theo Fernandez, KC Lim Pedley and Ai Jay Santiago – in cooperation with GCI and Century Properties (London), at the Romulo’s Café in Kensington High Street, right after [their] courtesy call to Ambassador Evans Garcia at the Philippine Embassy (London). The Phil-Anglo community surely wish Kiara and Paul a hearty congratulation. // ends //
